The Railway South of Wirksworth
South of Wirksworth, the line takes on a pleasant rural aspect with open views.
Idridgehay and Shottle
Between Wirksworth and Duffield, lie the charming rural stations of Idridgehay and Shottle. Idridgehay opened to passengers in 2008 and Shottle in 2012.
Both stations have the feel of rural branch line stations of forty or fifty years ago.
Shottle has been used for filming a documentary about the railway. As can be seen, the station is well-suited to period dramas.
Our southern terminus at Duffield was refurbished and opened in 2011. It provides a junction with the main line and offers filming opportunities with high-speed and heavy freight trains passing nearby.
